This is designed to help you jump-start your weight loss, and includes a selection of foods and shakes for your first week. Due to financial struggles, I was afraid I would have to cut back on my Nutrisystem food orders. Unfortunately, the weight loss is not sustained at one year, and the improvements that were seen were due to weight loss and not the actual diet. So enjoyed this blog. You have a lot of good info here. Gut flora has been shown to differ between lean and obese humans. There have been changes to the program, but weekly meetings have remained a part of the plan.
Test Summary and Final Thoughts
Then I basically ate two meals a day that consisted of ground beef and butter. Talk about easy meals. I might even do the egg fast again too. Both fasts are similar. As long as you eat protein with fats and very little to no carbs, you will lose weight. If you find yourself in a weight loss stall on the Ketogenic diet, you might try something similar.
I personally believe the substitute sugars, even Keto approved ones, might cause you to stall at some point. I also think dairy may have stalled me a bit too. Gosh, I love cheese.
I suggest you do different tests of your own. This is the only way you will figure out what is making you stall in your weight loss efforts. I never once felt as though I was deprived when I ate ground beef with butter. I also only ate twice in a day. I had coffee with butter in the morning 2 cups , and lunch and dinner were both ground beef with butter. Now when I look at my diet, I see more fat intake with moderate protein. When you think about your diet, what do you see?

Bacon, Eggs, Avocado, and lots of butter! Join our Private Facebook Group for this challenge: Magnesium, Potassium and make sure to up your salt intake too! I heard this advice over and over again from all the Keto experts at KetoCon too. I found your page through Pinterest, because the picture of the meat, cream cheese?
Do you actually have that? I was glad I found this, because it is so nice to have an arsenal of techniques for keto! How has this affected your overall health blood work, etc? What supplements do you take besides magnesium, potassium, and salt? This is very interesting. I have been stalled for weeks and have been trying to figure out what is going on.
I usually fast until after I workout, but then eat 3 meals. I also usually eat pretty close to my 25 net carbs everyday, I find it helps with volume. Do others find they need to cut out the carbs completely? If you suffer from leg cramps the quickest way to get rid of them is to soak in a bathtub with a cup of epsom salts as your body absorbs magnesium quicker through your skin than in a supplement of buy a spray, this stops the leg cramps immediately.
How do I find you on Facebook? Hi Ronni, We have a facebook group and a page! I started to think that was it for my weight loss. I am so happy I found this pin. I was starting to gain weight again. I started to eat the beef with butter for lunch every day for five days and lost 4 pounds.
I look amazing I feel amazing and I just have to thank you for your amazing advice. Anyone know if coconut like a fresh, real coconut, not dried or sweetened is ok on the keto diet?
I love it, and it tastes like a treat! I did this fast for 4 days and lost 4. After the 4 days I made sure to track my food and fat intake so I could on the plan and figure out what caused me to stall in the first place. Most of my protein I ate after the stall had the same amount of fat in either butter or oils. Doubt, you just breakfast the coffe? Then lunch and dinner meat with butter? Hello, i was interested in doing this. On the second day I added a small amount of grilled onion to the beef but very little because of the carb count.
I also second the issues with keto approved sweeteners. I made some keto mini cheesecakes last weekend and my weight went up I only ate 2 in 2 days, everything else was normal keto for me Only time I have issues with major stalling or reversals is when I use sweeteners.
Not going to make that mistake again! I did this and I lost weight. Thank you for sharing this. I wanna do this again but I kinda wanna try something other than ground beef. Something simple and quick. Again thank you so much for sharing. Thank you for you post and all this information.
Your method is worth a try. I will send you results. Congratulations on your success. You look and feel great. I wish you would post some new recipes that helped you lose the weight!
Ones that include amount of calories? It would be very helpful. Congrats on your weight loss!! I know the feeling that comes with seeing results on the scale. I have gained alot of my weight back simply bc of no motivation.
I think this blog was just what I needed! And keep up the great work!!! Congrats and thanks for sharing your story! You both look great! Congrats on your hard work and results. Thank you for posting this!! I also gave up everything to drink except water… i lost about 70 pounds in 2 months doing the exact same thing you did. Your post gave me the push I needed!! I have to get this weight off, I have to. All along I knew what to do, and happy to see someone else had the same results……..
I am so impressed with people who have the dedication to make it work, Thanks for sharing your story. PS I still think you looked good before! This is a fabulous post Amanda. I have really enjoyed reading it. Not at all preachy like some weightloss stories can be: I am feeling inspired to make some changes — I have 10 years of happily married, 2 kids and love to eat my own cooking weight to shift LOL.
I love the Vita Craves too — but at Wal-Mart they have generic ones that are much cheaper and taste even yummier so just in case you want to try those out…I think that they taste better than regular gummi bears! Hey You look great! I noticed, esp in the last post with your family pics that both you and Kevin were looking thinner! The good and bad of publishing self pics!
I think your exercise played a role too. I exercise in spurts so my weight and size fluctuates throughout the year. Like others have said, that sugar is my downfall. I need to find some fun, active things to do to keep ME motivated.
Reading your post has inspired me. I just think that a lot of women see things like this and wish they could be a size 4 or 2 or whatever. I know how hard the diet thing is. I had gastric bypass 21 months ago and have lost a total of 80 lbs.
I feel so good!!! Great job and keep up the good work!!! I have 2 boys that I cook for and too felt guilty not being able to keeping cooking which I love. Can you post that sight you talked about where you enter your recipe to get the right portion I could truly use this so cool!! I even decided to get a treadmill for myself, i am truly determined to lose the weight and be healthier in the next couple of months.
Thank you for the wonderful information and insight on all the delicious thing out there to eat especially deserts which I love!
I definitly have put on the newlywed pounds and need to loose, this is definitly a motivation!!! I recently had to lose weight for health reasons and I am on my last 10 pounds! I lost 35 so far! I know how great it feels to lose weight and how good you feel about yourself! You inspire me to continue!!
Hopefully Corey and I can do the same this year. We followed the same type program a few years ago, but after his accident we put all of our weight back on. But are trying to get back there again. You just inspired me! My mom and I have been trying desperately to lose weight.
We did the gym thing for a year and we were watching what we ate…and we started losing weight but it was getting expensive. I have been on a rollercoaster this paste couple months trying to figure out how to lose weight.
I am going to use your little secrets thank you soooooo much and see what happens. I am forwarding this on to my mom so she can read your blog too. That is really awesome.
I have just started working out that part I can manage , but it is the eating that gets me! I like how you gave ideas on how to keep track of calories. My question is how did you come up with the calories a day? Is that the recommended amount for your age? Measuring portions is a real eye opener and changing to drinking water is a big plus, and activity weather walking or the gym are very beneficial!
I so enjoy you thoughtful emails and look so forward to getting them from you……You have inspired me…. Hugs to you Jill. Thanks so much for posting this blog! I have always been underweight, but this last year things have started to stick. Anyways I was really encouraged by your blog and am excited to start getting healthy myself!
Amanda, you look wonderful.. I have about 50 lbs to lose.. My husband could stand to lose at least 20 lb…I know I can do it.. I used to be able to keep weight off and lose 10 pounds at the drop of the hat. That was before I had babies and turned 40! My husband really needs to lose weight and I have almost given up ever losing any weight and keeping it off again. Anyway, thank you for doing this. I did the exercise and not lose any weight thing, too.
Today I started drinking water intentionally. I determined that was all I would drink. Then I come here and see you did that, too. Amanda- that is absolutely fantastic and totally inspiring! You look amazing and you and Kevin both should be proud! The transformation is amazing. Thank you for taking the time to share your story. You and your husband supporting each other is awesome and if you decide to have kids down the road, you can help them to learn healthy eating habits.

Thanks for sharing your story. So so good for you! You truly look great. Good for you for sticking with it. Congratulations on your weight loss Kevin too. Losing weight is a hard thing to do! I think I might give it a go after the holidays: You really do look great. I am a lurker who Had to come out of lurking to say congrats!! Thanks for being awesome! You looked wonderful before, too!!
Girl… you have inspired me!! Amanda you have done a great job! Thanks for all your great tips. But I might take some of your tips into action- thanks for the links, too. I weighed when I graduated. I still weigh 10 years later and feel awful. I too started to eat out and drink wine. I only hope I have the will power to succeed this time. I feel I have to become a hermit and say no to going out with my friends, neighbors and family.
But now I am older and I dread the fact it may take me years to lose all this fat. But I have only myself to blame. Reading your story has given me some inspiration. I am going to make 10 weight loss increments only as to not get discouraged. Thank you for sharing your story. Hi Cheryl- Thanks for reading, and sharing…What an inspiring story! I still have a drink occasionally, but try to keep it limited to social gatherings and not an everyday thing. In any case, best of luck with your weight loss journey!
Norman, you seem to know the NS diet very well. I have been on this diet around 7 years ago and I see a few new changes this time. My order has arrived and I unpacked my Turbo Box yet did not keep that food separate, and now i am really unsure of what was in it for my first week….
Best of luck with the program. Hope that helps -NS. You want to be at your goal weight then, not wishing you did something about it yrs ago. No, you cannot pound them back, but I am not sure why you would want to anyway.
Co-workers always ask me to go out for a drink and they order whatever and I order a diet coke. You could blame it on medication if you want. When I go out to eat or go to cookouts, etc. I order a meat and a vegetable with a diet soda.
No potato or anything. At a cookout it would be a burger or chicken with no bread, and a tossed salad or veggie. You CAN do it. You just have to order carefully. I wish you luck. You can do, I know you can. It is so nice to read a positive article about Nutrisystem. You are so right about your body becoming used to the smaller portions.
Like anything, your body goes through an adjustment period, but after a few days, it is quite easy. With frequent snacks between meals, as well as plenty of fluids, you are eating pretty much whenever you feel hungry. Hi, thanks for the great review! Thanks for the nice comment: Excited to hear how Nutrisystem goes for you — let us know! Hi Ellen — You definitely need to talk with your doctor before trying Nutrisystem or any weight loss plan with your health issues, but they do offer a plan for people with diabetes.
I would recommend checking out their site to learn more about the different plans they offer. They also offer snacks and shakes as options over the course of the day, so that helps with the extra cravings too. Hope that helps, and best of luck with your weight loss journey! Someone in my Myspace group shared this website with us so I came to give it a look.
Exceptional blog and brilliant design and style. Thanks for the kind words and for visiting the site — let me know your Twitter handle so I can return the favor! Those first 2 weeks i dropped 13 lbs, but that third week i lost maybe 1 lb. I was only eating the provided meals the first two weeks usually around only calories per day obviously that was unhealthy, so i added in a few snacks to put me right around calories per day.
But unfortunately that has resulted in minimal weight loss. Did you have plateaus like this? And how did you over come these stalls? I did just purchase an elliptical and also a stationary bike, but only on day 2 with those.
Your review was wonderful and very well written, so thank you! Hi Julie- Thank you so much for sharing your story, and way to go for making it through your first month! I think the calorie restriction is the hardest part about Nutrisystem, and why now I typically only do the diet for a month or two and then really focus on just eating right and getting enough exercise after that.
For me, the approach after Nutrisystem has been intermittent fasting IF. That said, I have had a lot of success with it, and find that I can maintain a healthy weight for long stretches of time when using it.
I started with the turbo charge and continued now for almost 3 weeks. I have only lost 3 lbs. When I emailed a counselor they said that was normal and I was doing well. Big hope very disappointed. In any case, hope the rest of your month goes well, and best of luck moving forward. I just started Nutrisystem. I always lost weight on the low carb diet when I was younger.
But the fat intake was not good. Just to avoid all the carbs… Did you or anyone else have a issue with how many carbs are in each meal? Is this ok lol… Please someone assure me all the carbs are ok! Thanks for visting, and best of luck with your first month!
Thanks for the excellent review and videos. Excited to see what kind of progress I can make. Hi Krystal — thanks for visiting the site, and taking the time to read my review and watch the videos. Always happy to hear that it helped! Thanks for the great info and for sharing your story!
Thanks for the kind words, June! Congrats on taking the first step and best of luck with Nutrisystem — hope it goes well! I mastered more new things on this fat reduction issue. An enormous reduction in junk food, sugary foods, fried foods, sugary foods, beef, and white flour products may perhaps be necessary. Holding wastes unwanted organisms, and wastes may prevent ambitions for fat-loss. While specific drugs for the short term solve the situation, the unpleasant side effects are certainly not worth it, plus they never present more than a short-term solution.
Many thanks sharing your thinking on this weblog. Thanks for the input Saul. Have you ever considered creating an ebook or guest authoring about Nutrisystem on other sites? I know my readers would appreciate your work. If you are even remotely interested, feel free to send me an email. Hi Lance — I actually do have an eBook in the works, so stay tuned for that!
I just wanted to say that this post is awesome, well written and lots of useful Nutrisystem info. Looking forward to my first shipment. Hi Corburt — Thanks for the kind words, and best of luck with your first month — hope it goes well! I just wanted to offer you a huge thumbs up for the great information you have right here on this post.
I will be returning to your site for more soon! This blog looks exactly like my old one! Great choice of colors! Really inspired by your story — thanks for sharing! I am planning to start Nutrisystem after the New Year. Hi Erin — Thanks so much for the positive feedback. The first time I ever used Nutrisytem, which was many years ago at this point, I think I was one it for 4 months. I had a lot more weight to lose then; now when I sign up, I usually use it for a month, maybe two at the most.
To lock in the auto delivery deal, you have to commit to two months, so if you hit your weight loss goals after month 1, I recommend switching your order to just the Turbo Shakes — that will ensure you lock in the most savings, and also helps to keep you on track once you start transitioning off the program. As I have said before, you have to be committed to the program to get results, but as long as you follow their plan you will lose weight!
Anyways, best of luck and please let us know how it goes: Thanks for sharing your story. Drinking over ounces and eating tons of leafy greens. I did NS about 4 years ago lost almost This past July was told my chloerstral and blood pressure was too high for 28 year old. So black Friday I ordered when prices decreased. Hi Amanda — Thanks for visiting and reading my story. Hope it goes as well this time around. Thanks for sharing your superb review.
You have a lot of good info here. I am looking for a diet to try just after the new year, and this might be the one. Either way, appreciate all of the details you shared. Thanks, just what I was looking for. I have about 20 pounds to lose — is this doable in a month or two? Hi Sam — Thanks for the positive feedback. Losing 20 pounds is definitely doable with Nutrisystem, but I would budget at least two months.
I signed up for Nutrisystem this week, and I am really hoping that I have the same results. I think my first shipment should arrive just before Christmas, so think I will get started right after the holiday.
